Cadets take part in church service

The Calvinist Cadet Corps, led by head counsellor Ed Dykstra, took part in the morning worship service Sunday at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo.
They were involved in several areas of the service, including greeted people coming to worship, reciting the Litany, reading the Scripture lesson, taking up the offering, and serving as ushers.
During the offeratory, Tyson Quibell played “I have decided to follow Jesus.”
The Cadets also closed out the worship service by presenting the song “Living for Jesus,” joined by the congregation for the last two verses.
In the fellowship hall, the Cadets displayed their colourful craft work, as well as photos also which showed the various activities they took part in over the year.
The Cadets’ theme this year was “Walking with God.” The boys are learning that the Lord requires of them to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Him.
Dykstra noted 20 boys were enrolled in Cadets this year. The club is made up of the Eagles (led by Ed Heerema), Hawks (led by Tony Marinaro), Cougars (led by Herald Veldhuisen), and Wolves (led by Wayne Kooistra).
Gerald Weilinga pitches in wherever he’s required, and also is the club’s photographer and official refreshment maker.
All the boys have worked hard in earning all sorts of merit badges this year. One night, a record-setting 25 badges were presented.
