Cadets grounded by bad weather

It turned out to be a rather disappointing outing for the Air Cadets of 908 Squadron (Rainy Lake) here Saturday.
The local cadets, plus some from Atikokan, had anticipated a flight-familiarization ride with local pilot Gordie Melville, but the weatherman had other ideas.
A low ceiling and poor visibility in blowing snow kept Melville and his Turbo Beaver securely grounded—much to the disappointment of the cadets.
Consequently, the outing was restricted to touring Melville’s hangar, as well as several others, where the cadets were shown a number of locally-owned aircraft while the owners answered questions about their particular aircraft.
That tour was followed up by one of the airport terminal building before everyone dispersed.
But plans reportedly are in the works for another outing—and hopefully the weather will be more co-operative.
