‘Bugsy Malone’ set to hit DYS stage

Donald Young School students are ready to hit the stage with their fourth-annual production, this year entitled “Bugsy Malone.”
The play will be presented in the school’s gymnasium nightly at 7 p.m. beginning tonight (Feb. 28) until March 2.
A children’s gangster musical loosely based on events in Chicago during Prohibition, the show follows the rivalry between two gangs and a “washed up but well-meaning” boxer, Bugsy Malone.
Bugsy, who will be played by Conner Pocock, ends up taking control of Fat Sam’s (Sam Jackson) gang and helps defeat Dandy Dan (Maxwell Williams) and his gang.
Director Katherine Williams noted the kids are excited about opening night and everything is “right on target.”
Tickets, available at the door, cost $6 for adults and $3 for children. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
It’s sure to be a spectacular production!
