Brown elected to AMO board

At the 106th-annual conference of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario earlier this week, Atikokan Mayor Dennis Brown was elected to its board of directors.
As a member of the board and the northern caucus, Mayor Brown will help set policy for AMO and serve as a key municipal leader in the province.
“I am pleased to announce that Dennis has joined the 2005-06 board team,” said AMO president Roger Anderson.
“There is much yet to achieve on the municipal government agenda,” he added. “AMO and Ontario’s municipal sector will benefit from the expertise and dedication that people like Dennis bring to our board.”
One of AMO’s key priorities is to see a solution to the $3-billion provincial municipal fiscal gap. One-third of municipal spending goes to provincial health and social service programs.
That doesn’t help municipalities with the already $5 billion a year infrastructure deficit.
