Our summers are so short we try to cram in as many activities as we can, with families visiting from far and near.
The scattered showers grew some beautiful gardens in the district, while some others, where showers were missed, dried up.
That best of all pie fruit—blueberries—grew a bountiful crop north of here.

The Brannan and Williams families came together for a great time at the North Branch Community Centre on Aug. 23 for a day’s reunion.
Eighty people attended, coming from Shell Lake, Wisconsin, Loman, Minn., Selkirk, Man., Thunder Bay, White River, Mississauga and Nepean near Ottawa, and locally from Fort Frances, Emo, Stratton, and Dryden.
Elizabeth Brannan from Dryden was the oldest at 89, while the youngest was her great grandchild also from Dryden.

The pot luck at Stratton a week ago was well attended. As usual there was a wonderful variety of good food. The local line dancers gave a great performance!

Sixty-three danced to music by the Sindelirs at the Brink in Baudette last Friday. Dancing again on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7:30. The price is going up to $4 U.S. to help pay for the lunch, I’ve been told.

The next Emo Legion dance is slated for Saturday, Aug. 30 from 9 p.m.-midnight with Glen Hart, Wayne Flatt and Doug Kilpatrick.
