Bomb threat in Atikokan under investigation

(ATIKOKAN) On June 25, 2020, members of the Atikokan Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident involving a threat at the Atikokan municipal office. At 10:26 am, an unknown male entered an electronic online Atikokan council meeting and announced a bomb threat.
Police took immediate action and conducted a threat assessment. Resources such as the OPP Northwest Region Explosive Disposal Unit and the OPP North West Region Crime Unit were utilized.
The investigative process provided police with information to support a localized response. Atikokan officers took action to ensure safe and secure premises. In doing so, OPP worked closely with the Town of Atikokan, Atikokan Fire Department and Atikokan Land Ambulance to ensure all precautions were in place to maintain a safe perimeter as officers conducted their investigation.
OPP would like to thank the community and community stakeholders for their assistance. Officers continue to investigate the incident in consultation with the OPP Digital Evidence Unit.

(DRYDEN, ON) – On Tuesday June 30, 2020 at approximately 12:11 p.m. members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment attended Aaron Provincial Park in the City of Dryden for a report of an intoxicated person.
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old Dryden man has been charged with the following offences:
– Operation while impaired by alcohol
– Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)
– Indecent Act- public place
The accused was released from custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Dryden in September, 2020.
Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don’t drink and drive.

(DRYDEN, ON) – On Thursday June 25, 2020 at approximately 1:26 a.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the City of Dryden, Ontario.
As a result of the investigation and related search Police seized approximately 57.25 grams of cocaine, 1 hydromorphone tablet, 31.27 grams of methamphetamine, 8 morphine tablets, Canadian currency and drug related paraphernalia.
A 43- year old Dryden woman has been charged with the following offences:
– Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine
– Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs
– Possession of Schedule 1 Substance- Other Drugs
– Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
– Procures to make an identity document
– Make forged documents
The accused was held in custody awaiting a court appearance.

(RED LAKE, ON) – On June 28, 2020 at approximately 4:40 p.m., officers from the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a marine patrol on the waterbody of Red Lake.
Officers initiated a stop of a vessel to ensure its compliance with the Small Vessel Regulations of the Canada Shipping Act. Through the investigation it was determined the operator had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
As a result of the investigation a 57-year-old Red Lake man, was charged with 1x Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration
The accused will appear in Red Lake court on August 27, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. to answer to the charges.

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Northwest Canine Unit, Kenora Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and the Forensic Identification Unit are currently investigating an incident that occurred on River Drive, Kenora.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at approximately 8:30 a.m, police were advised of a group of unwanted people at a residence.
A short time later, five individuals were arrested for Criminal Code Offences. The investigation is continuing, more details will be released.
