The Northwestern Health Unit has issued a boil-water advisory for Atikokan.
It said the safety of the drinking water cannot be guaranteed due to low levels in the clearwells at the Atikokan water treatment plant.
Residents are asked to boil drinking water for one minute prior to consumption.
They also are being urged to eliminate all non-essential use of drinking water to allow operators to replenish the levels in the clearwells.
The boil-water advisory will remain in effect until further notice, the health unit said.
