As a result of an extensive search by police and civilians, police confirmed the body of John Cochrane, 43, of Mitaanjigaming First Nation was recovered from the waters of Stanjikoming Bay at 11:20 a.m. on Friday.
No foul play is suspected and OPP is continuing to assist the Regional Coroner’s office.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Monday at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ont.
On Thursday, the Rainy River District OPP and Treaty #3 Police Service responded to the report of an overdue boater in the area of Stanjikoming Bay.
