Body of drowning victim recovered

After searching since Sunday, the body of a 20-year-old drowning victim was recovered yesterday from Lake of the Woods.
On the evening of July 10, Matthew Michael Hoshowski, of the rural Municipality of Hanover, south of Sarto, Man., was canoeing with a friend off the south shore of the Buffalo Point First Nation when the canoe capsized.
While his friend was able to swim safely to shore, Hoshowski could not.
RCMP divers searched the area for two days, but failed to locate his body.
Volunteer searchers on the lake spotted the body floating in the water around 10 a.m. yesterday.
The body will be turned over to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for a post-mortem.
No foul play is suspected, and the drowning has been deemed accidental.
