Boaters injured in freak accident

Provincial police say a boating accident on the weekend was the result of an operator who was in the bag—literally.
Cst. Jim Adams said the five-metre boat went off course after one of the five passengers—all from Virden, Man.—opened a cooler. A bag flew out and landed right on the boat operator’s face.
By the time he managed to pull the bag off his head, the boat struck the north side of Wolf Island, Adams said.
All the passengers were thrown from the boat after it flipped over but most were only cut and bruised.
One passenger was sent to hospital as a precaution with a possible concussion.
Police said no charges were laid.
