‘Bloom’ committee chooses slogan

Bill Gushulak is the winner of the slogan contest the local “Communities in Bloom” committee held late last year.
His slogan, “Awesome Blossoms,” was chosen by the committee at its Jan. 4 meeting, secretary-treasurer Crystal Godbout noted this morning.
“We had quite a few entries, and there were some good ones,” Godbout said of the public’s response to the slogan contest.
For his efforts, Gushulak won a $25 gift certificate for Lowey’s Greenhouses and a yard evaluation by Marie Anderson, who will drop by his property in the spring and give him some landscaping tips.
While the local “Communities in Bloom” slogan officially is: “Let Our Heritage Be the Root for Our Community to Bloom Into the Future,” the committee held a contest in November to find a second, shorter one to be used in promotional materials when the initiative kicks into high gear later this year.
Godbout said anyone wishing to get involved with the local “Communities in Bloom” committee simply can come out to one of its meetings, which are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
She noted the committee is planning a number of fundraisers later this year, which the public can soon expect more news on soon.
