The Township of La Vallee gave the go-ahead for the replacement of the Black Bridge in Devlin during a council meeting last Wednesday.
The tender for the project was awarded to T&K Sharp Construction of Stratton.
The project includes removing the existing wooden bridge structure that spans the La Vallee River on La Vallee Road South, about two km south of Highway 11/71, as well as building a new bridge.
Construction isn’t slated to begin until mid-June.
Funding for the project, to the tune of $1.21 million, was announced last year under the province’s Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative.
