The Fort Frances Christmas Bird Count is scheduled for this Saturday (Dec. 15).
“So people in town, east to the Causeway and west to Devlin, and areas north and south of the highway, can expect to see bird-watchers patrolling their roads and neighbourhoods in our annual census of all the birds of all the species we can find in a 24-hour period,” noted organizer Ilka Milne.
She said anyone who lives in the area who would like to participate from home, by counting their yard and feeder birds, would be greatly appreciated.
Simply count what you see and call in your results to 274-2988 (Ilka and Henry) at the end of the day.
“Volunteers to cover a portion of our count circle are always welcome,” Milne added.
“We can give you a slice of the circle, or team you up with experienced birders if you prefer, for all or part of the day.”
Milne said with the light snow cover and only recent cold snap, they are looking forward to seeing a good variety of species this year.
