The Vacation Bible School was a huge success again this summer, according to the organizers. About 100 children gathered each day to learn what it means to grow the “fruits” of the Spirit.
Each day, they focused on a different fruit. Because they only had five days, they covered Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, and Kindness.
Their main actors were Teagan, Kory, Rachel, and Douglas, who did a fantastic job each morning portraying in a fun way to make these fruits evident in our lives.
After a few words from Pastor Dave on the opening day, the children spent time at each of the four centres that were set up. Dawn Loew, Jeannette Veldhuisen, and Diane Veldhuisen led the Bible centre while Corinne Webb led the craft centre with help from Grace Hetttinga and Carolyn Stang.
Christine Bethune led the music centre with help from Alicia Boven and Carmella Klug, with Betty Esselink and Elaine Mack leading the activity centre.
Lori-Ann Shortreed and Melanie Hall, along with their helpers, did a wonderful job teaching the JK and SK children. Each day, the children came home with a great craft and a “farm” report describing what they learned that day.
They also had many wonderful “farmhands” and helpers who kept the groups moving smoothly from centre to centre and helped maintain order.
Helen Cates organized a petting zoo on the Wednesday, where the children had fun playing with puppies, kittens, goats, anf a pony.
Meanwhile, the snack centre was well organized by Wilma Wielinga, Patti Woolsey, and Helen Cates, and there was always plenty to help.
Thanks to those who donated cookies, and a big thank you also to Marilyn Rittau, Gertie Kamerman, and Heidi Friesen for helping in the nursery.
