At its regular meeting Aug. 21, Dryden council appointed Nick Beyak to fill the vacant councillor position following the resignation of Darryl Skinner on July 20.
After declaring the office of councillor vacant, council had 60 days to fill the vacancy either through a by-election or by an appointment, and chose the appointment option.
“On behalf of council, I am pleased to welcome Mr. Beyak to this shortened term of office,” said Dryden Mayor Greg Wilson.
“His willingness to serve is much appreciated.”
Mr. Beyak noted, “I would like to sincerely thank Mayor Wilson and council for giving me the opportunity to once again serve the citizens of Dryden,” said Beyak.
“I look forward to working with the excellent leadership and staff at the city, and I know the next 14 months will be productive,” he added.
Beyak will be sworn in and take office early in September to complete the remainder of this term of council.
The next municipal election is set for October, 2018.
