Belluz to run again

Longtime Rainy River District School Board trustee Dan Belluz has filed his nomination papers to run again in fall’s municipal election.
“I’m running again to be part of a board that can provide the best educational system in the district for our students and ensure that student success is there,” said Belluz, who has sat on the board for some 25 years representing the Town of Fort Frances and unorganized areas east of here.
“In the past four years, we’ve been progressive as far as student success is concerned,” Belluz said about highlights from his time spent on the board.
“And we’ve invested a lot of time and capital into programs for students, student success leaders, coaches, [and] teacher professional development so they can, in turn, pass that along to the students and help them achieve,” he noted.
The biggest issue when it comes to education and the future is student success, Belluz stressed, as well as ensuring students receive the best education the board can provide.
“That is the number-one priority,” he remarked. “That’s what I base all my voting decisions on—the student—and weigh into any decision.
“I’m genuinely concerned with the success of the students in the district, and I want to be a part of that,” Belluz said.
