Be sure to vote in municipal election

The La Vallee municipal election is set for this Monday (Oct. 22), with voting taking place at the municipal office.
The four candidates running for reeve are incumbent Ken McKinnon and challengers Lucille Macdonald Ross Donaldson, and Ken Hyatt.
Voting runs from 10 a.m.-8 a.m. Be sure to take the time to vote.

The Emo Legion’s monthly 50/50 winner was Gladys Jolicouer, who took home $1,090.50.

Remembrance Day service will be held across the district on Sunday, Nov. 11, starting with a church service at 10 a.m. at the Devlin Hall.
Cenotaph services will follow at 11 a.m. (Devlin) and then 11:45 a.m. (Emo).
Following lunch at the Emo Legion at 12:30 p.m., cenotaph services also will be held at Manitou Rapids (1:30 p.m.), Barwick (2 p.m.), and Stratton(2:30 p.m.)
A supper then will be held at 5 p.m. at the Emo Legion.

The always popular “Country Jam” next will take place this Friday (Oct. 19) at the Emo Legion, starting around 7 p.m.
Admission is $2.

Congratulations to the top three teams at the Northwest Bay fishing tournament.
Jason Pavleck and Brandon Cam took first place, followed by Mike Wilson and Brian Hughes in second and Ralph Galusha and Tamara Robson taking third.
A big thank you to the organizers and volunteers.
I’ve heard many, many times this is a great event. It featured amazing bannock and much more!

A fun-filled event is planned for this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (Oct. 18-20) at La Place Rendez-Vous in Fort Frances.
The two-act dinner theatre entitled “Monday at the Manor,” written and directed by Tracy Gibson, will be performed. The cast is made of nine local actors/actresses.
Cocktails are at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and then the play.
Tickets, available in advance only at the Rendez-Vous, cost $45 each.
