Be alert to large trucks on highway

Beginning today (July 29) and continuing on a weekly basis until the end of the year, motorists in Northwestern Ontario will begin seeing some very large tractor-trailers travelling along Highways 17 and 11 enroute to Fort Frances.
OPP officers will be escorting these vehicles from eastern Ontario via Wawa and on through to the U.S. border at Fort Frances.
The escorts only will occur during daylight hours on Monday through Friday, and motorists may experience some traffic delays.
The OPP is asking motorists to be patient and please provide the right-of-way to these trucks.
The loads will vary in size from 49.95-54.55 metres in length, 4.6 metres wide, and 4.77 metres high.
They are the bases of the towers for windmills manufactured for General Electric.
