Barwick hosting Canada Day bash

Barwick is celebrating Canada Day a day early, getting a head-start on the festivities with a parade and baseball tournaments this Saturday (June 30).
“We have a parade and it’s on Saturday, and we’ve got baseball. There’s slo-pitch and fastball,” noted Barwick clerk Doris Dyson.
Participants are encouraged to register beforehand for the parade, which is slated to begin at noon.
“Come out early to register for the parade or prizes. Children are eligible for bike draws,” noted Dyson.
The parade will include feature costumes, bikes, wagons, floats, tractors, and old cars. “There will be a lot of old iron,” Dyson said.
Everyone involved in the parade will be eligible to win the two bicycles donated by Chuck Harrison and Voyageur Panel, and children could win a toy donated by the Barwick Restaurant.
Meanwhile, the baseball tournaments will run Saturday and Sunday, with teams encouraged to register by calling George (487-2253) for fastball or Crystal (487-1220) for slo-pitch.
“The event is organized by a combination of council, the recreation committee, and the ball teams,” noted Dyson.
