Barb Cournoyer is seeking re-election as a councillor in Alberton.
She is a small business advisor with TD Canada Trust and has been with TD for more than 25 years. She and her husband, Leonard, have been married for 22 years.
They have three wonderful children, a son-in-law, and a granddaughter.
Cournoyer has been involved in the municipal world for a total of six years in Alberton. She has served as the township representative on the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board and is a director of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, she previously has been on boards of the Rainy River Future Development Corp., the Fort Frances Trampoline Club, and the Fort Frances Visserettes.
Cournoyer is running for councillor of Alberton in order to become involved in, and contribute to, the local community, as well as the extended community of Rainy River District.
She knows issues for Alberton, such as roads, rural ideals, taxation, and downloading of services, also are issues of the entire district.
Cournoyer believes the focus for the future will be working with community neighbours to voice concerns to the various levels of government while keeping the rural idealism of Alberton intact.
