‘Balanced Day’ to run again at DYS

Donald Young School staff, students, and parents were surveyed back in April and asked to provide feedback on the “balanced day” format which was used there for the 2002-03 school year.
Based on the results, parents (80 percent), students (85 percent), and staff (100 percent) decided to continue to run the “balanced day” at DYS for the 2003-04 school year.
In other news, congratulations are extended to Kerrilyn Esselink, who represented DYS at the district speech contest in Fort Frances which attracted 15 students from Grades 6-8 from both the local public and Catholic school boards.
Esselink placed third for her speech entitled “Amazing Feet.”
There also are some date changes to note. For instance, the junior track and field meet was held yesterday (June 3) at Rainy River while the intermediate went today (June 4), also in Rainy River.
Other upcoming dates including CPR training for Grades 7-8 (June 12), the Grade 7 baseball tournament at Sturgeon Creek (June 18), and the junior baseball tournament, also at Sturgeon Creek (June 19)
A reminder the Grade 8 graduation is slated for Tuesday, June 24.
