Badiuk advances

Robin McCormick

Mike Badiuk, who plays lead for the Dylan Johnston rink out of the Fort William Curling Club, competed in the Northern Ontario playdowns in Elliot Lake over the weekend.
The team won their first provincial title Sunday afternoon after dispatching defending champ Kory Carr.
They now will represent Northern Ontario at the national playdowns coming up Jan. 31-Feb. 8 in Salmon Arm, B.C.
Congratulations, Mike. You know your home community is cheering you on!
Jenna Enge, playing vice-skip, also competed at the provincial playdowns in the women’s division. But despite playing some excellent games, her rink lost out in the final.
Congratulations, Jenna, on your accomplishments.

Sympathy to the family and many friends of Marg Govier, who passed away Monday at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.
Marg and her husband, Bill, were very good friends of my parents and I still have many cherished memories of the good times they shared.
Marg was a kind, loving, and generous person, and always will be remembered for those excellent attributes. She also was excellent at many crafts, and I still have a quilt she made more than 30 years ago.
She will be sadly missed but always remembered for the lives she touched.

Robin’s 2¢:
On the first day of a marriage retreat, the instructor talked about the importance of a couple knowing what really matters to each other.
“For example,” he began, pointing to the husband. “Do you know your wife’s favourite flower?”
The husband replied, “Robin Hood All-Purpose.”
