Backus starts arts education program

Press Release

The Backus Community Center in International Falls is excited to announce its newly-established 2019 Arts Education Program.
This compilation of trainings will focus on increasing the number of art-centered learning experiences offered by the community center.
It will include the current annual “Summer Arts” week, as well as a number of new theatre-focused workshops taught by two retired theatre professors, a professional playwright from southern Minnesota, and an actor from Minneapolis.
Retired costume designer Anne Holen will instruct the first workshop in the series.
Holen enjoyed a career that took her across the U.S. teaching costume construction at universities and working at a variety of theatres as a costume shop supervisor, seamstress, and dresser.
During her costume design workshop, Holen will share her extensive experience on how she sews together fabric to create stage magic.
Join us on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. in Room 211 at Backus for this free and informative event.
Backus is located at 900 5th St.
