Press Release
The board of directors meeting of the La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary was held Tuesday, Nov. 2, with Noreen Robertson presiding.
Gift shop manager Marg Kircher advised the meeting that a lobby sale will take place at the hospital on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Members will be called to donate crafts and knitting, which can be dropped off in the gift shop anytime prior to the sale.
Baking can be dropped off the morning of the sale.
As well, there will be a raffle and lottery tickets will be available.
Kircher also advised that Trillium Foundation merchandise in support of breast cancer is now available for sale in the gift shop.
Meanwhile, Dixie Badiuk reported that the fall tea, which was held on Oct. 16, was very successful and that plans are in the works for a tea at the same location next year.
Susan Robertson reported 12 new memberships were accepted at the tea, as well as 92 renewals and four prior year renewals.
Membership fees for 2011 can be paid at the hospital gift shop, which is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Membership fees remain at $5.
The December general meeting and luncheon will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Hallett Hall (Rainycrest).
It was noted that the meeting will take place on a Tuesday instead of the customary Monday.
Jean Boileau and Wendy Judson will be providing entertainment at the luncheon.
The menu will consist of salad, a hot chicken entree, and cheesecake for dessert. Vegetarian lunches are available with prior notification.
Call Irene Laing at 274-9569 if a vegetarian meal is required.
In keeping with the festive season, it was decided to keep the meeting portion to a minimum in order to allow members to enjoy the entertainment and fellowship.
Tickets will be on sale at Pharmasave, Shoppers Drug Mart, and the hospital gift shop until 2 p.m. on Friday Dec. 10.
Laing also reported that ticket sales for the “Christmas Cash Draw” are going well.
Team captains are being requested to contact their ticket sellers to turn in their sold ticket books and also return their unsold books so they can be used in the final three weeks of the campaign.
The draw for a first prize of $1,000, second prize of a quilt donated by Margaret Fontana, and third prize of $300 will be held Nov. 26 at the hospital gift shop.
