Auditions set for ‘Wizard of Oz’

It is with great excitement that the students and staff at Donald Young School in Emo are anticipating the staging of the “Wizard of Oz” on Feb. 26-27.
Students are invited to audition for the various roles on Monday, Dec. 15.
Those interested are asked to pick up a permission slip package from the office, read through it carefully with their parents, sign the consent, and return it to school.
Any parents interested in helping with sets, lights, or costumes are encouraged to contact the school.
In other news at DYS, students and parents distributed baking around the community last Friday. Thank you to Tracey Roen and Tammy Kinnear for organizing the community baking, as well as to the parents who supported the school’s cheese sale.
DYS received $2,247 in funding from the Breakfast for Learning Education. A new fridge and stove was purchased, with the rest of the money being used to purchase necessary canteen supplies.
Portfolio celebrations were held this week (this is when parents had their chance for one-on-one interviews with their child’s classroom teacher).
And finally, members of the DYS parent council include Martin Williams (chair), Bonnie Wilson (secretary), Patty McNally, Gabby Emond, Geoff Pearce, and Diane Carlson (teacher rep).
