The Atikokan Progress is sponsoring an all-candidates meeting to be held at the Atikokan Legion Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
This is a chance for residents to hear the points and perspectives of potential future councillors and compare the policies of the two mayoral candidates, Liz Shine and Rob Ferguson, running in the election this fall.
There will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions of the candidates, and the Progress hopes to be able to videotape the meeting for presentation later online.
Shine advised that she is working with The Gathering Place and the other candidates to arrange a more casual meet and greet session. The date being considered is Friday, Sept. 25.
Candidates for the six council seats in Atikokan are: Syed Ali, Shane Fiore, Jim Johnson, Gord Knowles, Sarah Lyons, Bill Munro, Brian Stimson and Jim Turner.
Voting, which will again be online and by telephone for Atikokan, opens Friday, Oct. 16 and closes Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
