Ashby to kick off barn concert series

Press Release

Sean Ashby will be the first barn concert of the season at Cornell Farms on July 10 beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Sean Ashby is North America’s go-to guitarist.

He has played and recorded with Sarah McLachlan, Swollen Members, Mae Moore, Rota Chiarelli, Lee Aaron, Ginger (former Grapes of Wrath), and Todd Fancey of the New Pornographers.
Chances are, if you’ve had the radio on today, you’ve heard his guitar playing.

Ashby has been called a “one man band with seven guitars.”

He has performed on The Grammy Awards, Tonite Show with Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live, David Letterman Show, and the Conan O’Brien Show.

According to Kim Cornell, Cornell Farms is pleased to be part of Sean Ashby’s cross-country tour.

“He has played everywhere across North America and in all sorts of venues. His solo acoustic guitar arrangement of ‘Blackbird’ with McLachlan for the movie, ‘I Am Sam,’ is legendary. We are lucky to be part of his summer tour,” said Cornell.

Originally from Thunder Bay and a graduate of Hamilton’s Mohawk College music programme, Ashby is a well known fixture in the North American music business.

He has multiple television, film and CD credits and has toured and recorded with over 20 different acts.

His skill is legendary within the industry.

It is shaping up to be a great night.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

They are available from the Fort Frances Public Library, Tompkins Hardware, Lidkea Optometry Services, Cornell Farms and electronically through Eventbrite.ca.
