Artists in the Park comes to Sioux Narrows

Press Release

The Sioux Narrows Arts Council is excited to Launch its inaugural “Artists in the Park” event as a fundraising initiative for the 2021 60 Anniversary of the Sioux Narrows Arts Festival. The event will take place on Saturday September 12, 2020 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Sioux Narrows Provincial Park, and is a great opportunity for those who have been missing Art Shows and Markets throughout the region this summer to come and see what local artists have been up to.

The event will feature several local and regional artists, with displays of their artwork to sell set up to accommodate social distancing protocols, throughout the park. Attendees will be able to stroll through a 1.2 km loop to view and purchase art.

Many local and regional artists have been negatively impacted by the inability to sell their work at shows as a result of Covid-19.” explains Kathy Valentini, Co-Chair of the Sioux Narrows Arts Council, “Artists in the Park is a great opportunity to connect artists displaying work for purchase, with people who have an interest in purchasing and supporting local arts in an outdoor setting. It is also a great opportunity to fundraise for the Sioux Narrows Arts Festivals 60th anniversary coming up in 2021.”

As background, the Sioux Narrows Arts Festival is the largest, and longest running arts festival in the region. As a result of Covid-19 it was held on-line during the summer of 2020, which negatively impacted its ability to raise funds for the 2021 60th anniversary.

This event will follow these protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

– No food or beverage service on-site

– Attendees will be required to adhere to social distancing protocols

– Hand Sanitizer will be provided

– Use of the Masks is strongly encouraged

– We ask that 1 household group at a time approach artist booths.

– Booths will be widely spaced throughout the 1.2 km loop to ensure adequate distance.
