Annual seniors’ Christmas dinner planned

All seniors are welcome to the Christmas dinner at the Stratton Millennium Hall on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. Willie and Rod Longnecker will entertain.
Cost is $13, and tickets may be purchased from Julie Smitts (485-5305) or John Vandenbrand (483-5443) by Dec. 2.

The Emo Christmas Chorale will be performing at the Christian Reformed Church there Dec. 9.
A Christmas program also is slated Dec. 20 at the Off Lake Covenant Church, starting with supper at 6 p.m.

The covenant ladies’ meeting is slated Dec. 9 at noon at Anne Irvin’s place (across from the Kent Johnsons). There will be a gift exchange.
Please also bring Christmas baking and a Christmas ornament for a special gift, and invite a friend or two!
The Covenant Church will miss Pastor Marty Johnson of Off Lake as he is leaving in January for Dauphin, Man. with wife, Teena, and baby, Ayden.

Congratulations to Greg and Lisa Ferris on the birth of a son born Nov. 24 at La Verendrye hospital in Fort Frances, weighing in at 8 lbs., 2 oz. A brother for two sisters!

John and Inge Scheibler visited son, Andreas, daughters, Gabriela and Dorothy, and their families from Nov. 15-17 in the Red Lake area.

Last Saturday (Nov. 23), Leona Gillis of the Golden Age Manor in Emo had a wonderful time celebrating her 89th birthday with all her 10 children (ranging in age from 70 to 51) in attendance
They came with their spouses from Edmonton, Calgary, Kenora, Vermilion Bay, Ear Falls, Emo, Fort Frances, and Barwick.
They celebrated with dinner at the Red Dog Inn, where Leona was thrilled to see her name displayed in lights. Photos were taken after dinner

Some changes to the Chapple waste disposal site starting Jan. 1. In Shenston, it will be open Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the Richardson dump site will be open Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 2:30-5 p.m.
New cards will be mailed out.

The Chapple annual potluck Christmas party is slated Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Barwick Hall. Santa also will be there!

Chapple fitness centre memberships expire Dec. 31. New memberships are now available at the municipal office for $60 (single) and $100 (family).

The skating rink at Chapple North is in need of major repairs. If you would like to help out with work, or donations towards the purchase of treated plywood (1/2 sheet cost $25 or a full sheet costs $50), your business/name then would be put on the plywood.

A reminder Chapple Heritage is selling “gold bricks” at a cost of $100 each, in your name or that of a loved one’s memory. This fundraiser is for a replica lighthouse to be built down at the waterfront as a tourist attraction.

We wish Jim Teeple successful bypass surgery in Winnipeg, with an excellent recovery. Jim had his first bypass done 20 years ago.
