The public is invited to attend a concert by Eduard Klassen this Friday (July 31) at 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Chapel (one mile north of Stratton).
Klassen, who was born and raised in Paraguay, is an outstanding harpist, along with a dynamic testimony.
Over the past 30 years of ministry, his tours have taken him to 20 countries, where he’s conducted more than 3,000 concerts.
It is a rare privilege to have Klassen in our area so don’t miss this excellent Christian harpist.

Arvid Loewen, who spoke at the men’s breakfast in Emo back on April 18, successfully has completed his “Tour For Life” cycling campaign, raising roughly $155,000 for the more than 2,000 orphans at the Mully Children’s Family orphanage just outside Nairobi, Kenya.
He rode more than 8,000 km in the last 23 days, which was equal to the distance ridden by the cyclists in the “Tour de France” race.

The Women’s Institute is hosting its “Summer Pie Social” this Friday (July 31) from 1-3 p.m. at the W.I. Museum in Emo.
Come out and enjoy some pie and coffee for $4, view the new museum exhibits, and visit the tourist information and gift shop.
Whole pies large and small–all homemade—also will be for sale.
Proceeds from the event will go to the W.I. Museum.

The Calvary Baptist Church in Emo is hosting a free barbecue tomorrow (July 30) at 6 p.m.
Music and a message will follow at 7 p.m., with the sermon topic being “What’s Happening to the Lord’s Prayer” (Matthew 6: 9-13).

The Emo Legion hosted another successful “Country Jam” this past Friday. Musicians and dancers came from as far away as Atikokan and Baudette.
The dance floor was full many times while fox-trots, polkas, and old-time waltzes were played by Emily Smith, Bob Brown, Vern Silver, Lawrence Bellamy, John Reader, Richard Allen, Patti Brown, Edith Haw, and Charleen Gustafson.
Carl White performed some soulful, bluesy country with his guitar and harmonica. Meanwhile, Jamie Fiset, a young musician, kept up with the adults on her new guitar—a present from Allen, who wants to encourage young talent.
Maurice Betournay filled out the sound with his versatile drumming while Morris Halverson wove everything together on lead guitar.
Organizers feel they’re fortunate to have professional musicians willing to donate their time and talent to provide entertainment to all and encoragement to beginners.
Everyone who comes out is grateful for their generosity.
The next “Country Jam” at the Emo Legion is slated for Friday, Aug. 28 starting around 7 p.m.
The Emo Legion and the musicians provide this great family evening free of charge to the community.
