Riverside Foundation for Health Care is excited to announce that the winner of the March Riverside 50/50 electronic raffle is Kathy Hager of Kenora with the winning ticket number P-2948749. Hager takes home $13,560, with the same amount going to the Foundation. The draw was made Wednesday, March 31 at 11:00am in the Foundation Office.
Hager wasn’t home to receive the phone call alerting her that she had won, but did check the winning number against her ticket herself. After checking and rechecking a few times the initial shock wore off and she is currently letting it sink in before she makes any plans for her winnings. Hager purchases tickets in many Ontario hospital foundation lotteries as she sees it as a win-win and likes to help out local hospitals.
This jackpot marked the fourth draw in the Foundation’s current monthly series of raffles. Since the Foundation’s inaugural electronic 50/50 raffle, over $360,000 has been given out to community members. All proceeds from the monthly 50/50 raffles help support health care close to home with funds being used to purchase much needed medical equipment for Riverside Health Care Facilities.
Tickets for the April raffle are available now at www.riverside5050.ca or by calling the Foundation Office at 274-4803 to arrange for offline sales.
After reviewing the ticket brackets and accompanying fees that are paid out to the Foundation’s electronic raffle provider, a decision was made to revert back to the original ticket pricing of 10 for $5, 20 for $10 or the best deal of 100 for $20.
“Introducing the $40 ticket bracket proved to be very successful in the New Year’s Eve draw. However, including this price bracket doubled the per ticket fee that the Foundation must pay out to our provider,” stated Foundation Director, Allison Cox. “Removing the $40 bracket and re-introducing the $5 bracket will minimize our expenses and allow us to keep more of the ticket sales available for the purchase of medical equipment as opposed to going towards operational expenses. It is our hope that those ticket purchases there have been buying the $40 ticket will still continue to support the raffle in the same amount and that the $5 ticket will attract some new buyers.”
A $500 early bird draw sponsored by West End Motors and Westland Insurance will take place Wednesday, April 13 at 11 a.m. Ticket sales for the jackpot close Thursday, April 28 at 9 p.m. with the draw taking place Friday, April 29 at 11 a.m.
