Alberton Rec Committee members are keeping their fingers crossed that the weather clears up for the second-annual “Singing in the Swamp” tomorrow.
The event tentatively is set to go from 3-7 p.m. at Alberton Millennium Park on Hill Road (off Highway 11/71 near Superior Propane).
“Unless it is really bad weather, we plan to go ahead,” lead organizer Beth Logue said this morning.
“I’m hoping the afternoon will clear up.”
The event initially was planned to go ahead Aug. 8 but had to be postponed due to the threat of severe thunderstorms.
Everyone is urged to bring their lawn chairs and come on down for an afternoon of fun, including live music by “Centre-Line.”
“Centre-Line,” consisting of Wes Morrisseau (lead guitar, vocals), Geoff Gillon (bass, vocals), and Tony Marinaro (drums, vocals), plays popular tunes from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s.
In addition to music, the Alberton Volunteer Fire Department will be providing fire safety education.
There will be fire trucks on hand for the public to see and plenty of freebies to give away.
There also will be pulled pork on a bun or wild rice soup available for a toonie.
Admission is fee—just bring you own tables and chairs.
Balloons and signs will direct motorists to the park.
