Alberton council to vote on smoking bylaw

Alberton council will once again discuss the smoking bylaw at tonight’s meeting.
Health promoter Jennifer McKibbon will make a presentation on the Northwestern Health Unit’s reasons for the bylaw, and council will then make a motion on the bylaw.
Alberton parent Danielle Robinson will also make a presentation at the meeting regarding the pending closure of Alberton School. Robinson has been an active participant at the closure meetings since they began.
Other business at tonight’s meeting includes:
•a resolution to authorize additional money for the Millennium Skating Rink;
•a report and copy of the 2002 Rainy River District Municipal Association budget distributed for information purposes;
•a resolution to make a donation to the WHO conference;
•a resolution to authorize representatives to attend the NOMA spring conference in April;
•a resolution to authorize representatives to attend an “e-government” workshop in Dryden;
•a resolution to authorize representatives to attend the “Week in Ottawa”; and
•a resolution to authorize the clerk to attend the AMCTO spring conference in Thunder Bay.
The meeting will take place at the Alberton town office at 7 p.m.
