Alberton council hopes for big turnout

Alberton council discussed the closure of Alberton Central School at its meeting last Wednesday and is calling for action from residents.
In fact, council is asking that all concerned members of the public attend the consultation meeting this coming Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the school.
“This is probably our last chance on the 26th,” said Coun. Bill Morrison, who will make a presentation at that meeting—and is asking anyone else who can to do so.
“People aren’t showing up to the school board meetings,” he noted. “I don’t want people coming up to us after the school’s gone asking, ‘Why couldn’t you guys save our school?’”
Lyle Hyatt, who attended last week’s council meeting agreed. “The school is the centre of your community,” he stressed.
