Two Thunder Bay men caught fishing illegally by Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers on aerial patrol have been fined $590.
William Venturini, 68, was fined $300 for angling with three extra lines while Maurice Zakrewski, 60, was fined $290 for having two lake trout over the limit.
Both men pleaded guilty.
Court heard that on Feb. 18, the men were ice fishing on Norway Lake, about 30 km south of Ignace. After landing their plane on the ice, MNR conservation officers from Dryden began checking anglers.
The officers charged the pair jointly when they discovered the two men were fishing with seven lines and in possession of six lake trout.
Justice of the Peace Edith Baas heard the case March 15 in Ignace.
