The 4-H United Beef Club held its first meeting May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Bud McQuaker.
This year, there are 15 members of the club, with Bud McQuaker and Brent Miller being our 4-H volunteers.
Club members elected Jay Neilson as president, Matt McQuaker as vice-president, Meagan Anderson as secretary, and Jared McQuaker as press reporter.
Matt McQuaker also volunteered to be our youth leader.
Other members of the club include Mitchell Haw, Ben and Tegan Miller, Jock and Kevin Gemmell, Daniel Anderson, Tyler Nielson, Aaron Kuorikoski, Amy Anderson, and Lucas and David Nussbaumer.
At the first meeting, we went over the outline of the club, the code of conduct, and also filled out our animal identification sheets. We later talked about how everybody’s animals were doing and some other things.
After that, we scheduled our next meeting for May 28 at 9 a.m. at the McQuaker residence.
The meeting then was adjourned at 9:30 p.m., after which we enjoyed some tasty treats.
The second meeting was called to order as planned.
After we all recited the 4-H pledge, youth leader Matt McQuaker talked to us about how much feed the animals have to be fed and which feeds were the best.
He also talked about the nutritional value of the different feeds, and how the animals use their feed to grow and put on weight.
We then talked about how everyone’s animals were doing.
We decided the next meeting will be held June 12 at 1 p.m. at the Haw’s place.
After the meeting was adjourned, we once again had some treats.
