Dawson Beef Club 2022 – Meeting #1 Press Report

Dawson Beef Club had their first meeting on June 6, 2022, at 7:00 pm. The meeting was called to order and then we recited the 4-H pledge. We did an ice breaker activity called Skittles and reviewed requirements with the members. Elections were then held. President is Caleb, Vice President is Talon, all four families agreed to take turns being the Secretary and Press Reporter. We then did our roll call, where everyone took turns answering, “Name one thing that you think is important when selecting a project animal.” We then did worksheets and were given homework to complete.

Dawson Beef Club 2022 – Meeting #2 Press Report

Dawson Beef Club had their second meeting on June 23, 2022, at 6:00 pm. Our roll call was, “What is one ingredient in your ration that you are feeding your steer/heifer? Share an example of your feed”. We reviewed homework from meeting one and talked about nutrients and feeds, as well as an animal digestive tract worksheet. We then practiced our slipknots as a group.

Dawson Beef Club 2022 – Meeting #3 Press Report

Dawson Beef Club held their third meeting on July 7, 2022, at 6:30 pm. Our roll call was “What is something that you might need on show day? What would it be used for?” We then went outside and our youth leader, Alanna, showed us how to move our animals and then talked with us about different tools used on our animals. Our leaders then showed us a video on showmanship and sportsmanship.

Dawson Beef Club 2022 – Fun Day Press Report

On Saturday, August 6, 2022, Dawson Beef Club, and the United Beef Club met at 9 a.m. at Tami LeBlanc’s. After all our animals were unloaded and tied up, our leaders than had us begin to weigh our animals. Once that was complete, Hayden began to show the younger members in the clubs how to clip their animals. All members began walking their animals as we would at the fair and practiced walking and moving positions. We then had a BBQ with salads and desserts brought by each family.
