Six members completed another 4-H project. Sporting Chance, also known as the “Barnside Stampeders,” covered several energetic activities.
Weather prohibited some of the outdoor events that were planned but indoor activities made up for it.
The members played games of soccer, basketball, throwball, volleyball, beanbag toss, and Paralympics, where each member experienced activities from a wheelchair, blindfolded, and with one arm tied down to feel how it would be if disabled.
It certainly was a learning experience for each of them.
Courtney Beadle acted as president, Logan Donaldson was vice-president, Nathalie Donaldson was club secretary, Kerry Hyatt was treasurer, and Rebecca Cornell did the press reports.
And Jason Empey did a terrific job as cover designer for their project books.
Each member also made a personal-size emergency first-aid kit that they could carry easily with them while travelling.
Throughout the project, they learned about the hazards of smoking, alcohol, and drugs, as well as a basic emergency procedure for first-aid.
The 4-H members received their awards at a presentation during Achievement Day at Kerry Hyatt’s just before the Christmas holidays began. Congratulations to a great 4-H team!
