A 14-year-old Kenora youth faces several charges stemming from an incident there Wednesday night.
Police were conducting a RIDE check near the junction of Highway 17A and Darlington Drive when a vehicle stopped prior to reaching their location and turned to avoid it.
The driver then proceeded south on Darlington Drive at a high rate of speed trying to avoid police.
Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Norman Drive, adding officers were able to arrest him while he was exiting it.
The teen was charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, as well as various provincial offences.
There was no injury to the driver nor his 15-year-old passenger, police said.
