Date set for annual church bonspiel

Press Release

The 51st-annual church bonspiel has been set for Saturday, Feb. 17 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fort Frances Curling Club.
Over the years, this has been a fun event that attracts curling enthusiasts from churches on both sides of the border.
However, anyone is welcome to join in the fun–the key being to curl and enjoy good fellowship.
We look forward to welcoming you again or, if this is something new for you, welcome aboard!
We are hoping for a full event of 12 teams. We welcome churches or groups to enter as many teams as they wish and we will try to accommodate everyone.
Teams can be any four people of any age.
In an attempt to simply cover all costs, registration is set again this year at $100 per team of four, which includes the cost of curling (three six-end games) and a delicious lunch.
Regular curling rules apply and scoring will remain the same as used in previous years.
At the end of the day, the first-place team is deemed the champion and, as in the past, the second-place team is responsible for looking after next year’s competition.
However, do not let this “second-place” responsibility stop you from entering a team. There’s always someone to assist or take over with these duties.
After 50 years, we feel it is important to keep this friendly winter activity going, so please call in with your registration today.
It’s a great way to share some “fun” time with other churches and groups.
The top two teams receive awards courtesy of Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. The large annual awards engraving updates are donated by Fort Frances General Supply.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could bring this friendly and fun-filled activity to the attention of your congregation and/or circle of curlers.
A quick reply would help us greatly in planning the event.
A further invitation is extended to anyone who wishes to come out for the day to cheer on their team.
Admission is free and an elevator is available for easy access to the upper level. We look forward to seeing you there!
The restaurant will be open for all those in attendance.
