This photograph by Eric Fagerdahl, showing two sashes woven together to form the Métis infinity symbol alongside other culturally-relevant items, is part of the new Métis Art Gallery Program exhibit upstairs at the Fort Frances Museum. The symbol has two meanings: “The joining of two cultures” and “The existence of a people forever.” Last November, the local branch of the Métis Nation of Ontario asked district residents to take photos of what they feel represents Métis culture and got about a dozen photos in. The exhibit will be up through the end of February.
