Crossroads School here in Devlin will host its annual open house on Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
This is an evening to meet the teachers and new principal, as well as to familiarize yourself with the upcoming school year.
In other news, Crossroads students will be running in their Terry Fox fundraiser next Friday (Sept. 25).
Prior to that, students will be bringing in donations for the Terry Fox Foundation (Sept. 22 is nickel day, Sept. 23 is dime day, and Sept. 24 is quarter day).
Please be sure to clean out your piggy bank and look around for other loose change, and make a donation to a student.

A baby shower was held last Thursday (Sept. 10) to honour Mattias Doupe, the infant son of Paul and Melissa Doupe.
Proud grandparents are Eldon and Cheryl Mose and Don and Adele Doupe.

I was informed last week that Roger Roy recently passed away. He was the husband of Arlene (Cain).
Arlene was raised and spent part of her life in Devlin.

A dance being held in conjunction with the Tom Bruyere Memorial 20-mile walk for dialysis goes this Saturday (Sept. 19) from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Emo Legion.
The band “Centre Line” will provide the music.

Robin’s 2¢:
A Devlin guy was driving home after enjoying a couple of beers with his buddy.
As he turned a corner, he saw a tree in the middle of the road. He swerved to avoid it—and quickly realized another one was directly in his path.
He discovered his drive home was causing him to veer from side to side to avoid all the trees.
Moments later, he heard a siren and stopped the car. The officer approached the car and asked, “What on earth are you doing?”
As the man was telling him the story of the trees on the road, the officer stopped him in mid-sentence and said, “For heaven’s sake, that’s your air freshener.”
