Emo’s community garage sale day will be held Saturday, June 6.
Tables are available for rent at the Emo curling rink for $10 each by contacting the Emo municipal office at 482-2378 on or before Thursday, June 4.
Anyone planning to hold their own garage sale on June 6 can contact the municipal office on or before Friday, May 29. If you provide the office with your address, your sale will be added to the list of community garage sales.
All garage sale locations will be published in this column on Wednesday, June 3, as well as added to posters which will be placed throughout the village.

The Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program held its annual spring benefit concert last Tuesday (May 12) at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo.
Staff and students from kindergarten to Grade 12 entertained an enthusiastic audience with inspirational band ensembles, choirs, and thought-provoking dramas.
As well, the topic of the building renewal campaign was addressed by Jim Peterson, a structural engineer from Thunder Bay.
All funds raised from this concert will go towards the Christian Parents’ Association’s building project.

A reminder that Charlie A’Court will be performing at the Little Beaver Snow Park in Fort Frances next Thursday (May 28) beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Charlie is a contemporary artist from the Maritimes who performs before sold-out audiences across eastern Canada. Fort Frances is his last stop in western Canada before he heads to Texas for a tour.

St. George’s Anglican Church will be holding an evening of folk music and prayer this Friday (May 22) at 7 p.m. in appreciation to all who help with the Mission House and food bank.
The “Summer Praise & Worship” service will feature the folk music team of Renée Martin-Brown (piano/vocals) and Ken Brown (guitar/vocals) while worship will be led by Rev. Eileen Bragg.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Emo Country Club will be taking another “tour” on Thursday, June 4 at 1 p.m. Join the club members in the Golden Age Manor common room as they learn about Sweden!
There is no cost to attend the Country Club, and refreshments will be served. And don’t forget to bring along your Country Club passport!

The monthly men’s breakfast club met Saturday morning at the Emo Legion for another great meal and an inspirational talk from Pastor Conrad Dueck, who spoke about the loss of the family home and all of their possessions on a cold night back in January.
Dueck explained to those on hand how the loss has deepened his faith and helped him focus on what is truly important in life.
Watch for information about next month’s breakfast meeting, which will be held on June 20.

The United churches of Devlin and Emo will be setting up food booths at the upcoming Emo Walleye Classic (May 28-30).
Guthrie United Church will have a dessert and coffee booth in the arena while Knox United Church will run a booth outside featuring a variety of good food.

The United churches of the area will be holding their annual camp at Sunny Cove from July 20-24 for kids aged eight (or entering Grade 3 in September, 2009) to 14.
The UCC provides an opportunity for children to discover God, make new friends, and enjoy fun outdoor activities. The cost per child is $120 (up to a maximum of $350 per immediate family).
Camp forms are available at the United churches in Emo and Devlin, as well as at the Donald Young School office here in Emo. Forms will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Borderland Community Orchestra will be performing at Donald Young School here in Emo on Wednesday, June 3rd at 7 p.m.
