Citizen of year to be named


The Town of Fort Frances will announce its “Citizen of the Year” tonight.
The presentation will be made at 7 p.m. during the regular meeting of council.
The town put out a call for nominations last month, with the submission deadline being Nov. 5.
The committee of the whole meeting starts first at 5:30 p.m., but will be in-camera until sometime before 7 p.m.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:
•an activity report from the Rainy River Future Development Corp.;
•a request from the Fort Frances Curling Club re: proclaiming Nov. 21-29 as the seventh-annual “Curling Week” in the Town of Fort Frances;
•a bylaw to approve an agreement with Joe Johnson Equipment Inc. to supply a sidewalk tractor (tender 15-OF-17);
•a bylaw to approve a Material Services Agreement with Product Care Association for the Interim Lamps Program;
•a bylaw to authorize the sale of certain municipal lands to Jay Burnett (Industrial Park Lot 15 and Lot 16);
•a bylaw to impose certain user fees for 2016;
•a “Families for Families” committee financial request; and
•a financial request from the Volunteer Bureau’s community Christmas dinner.
