Who would you like to see recognized for their years of community service in Fort Frances?
The deadline to submit your nomination for the 2018 “Citizen of the Year” is coming up and the town would love to see more submissions before they close at 4:30 p.m. this Friday (Oct. 26).
The town has received just one nomination form so far, said deputy clerk Kathy Lawson, who once again is in charge of the process.
“I realize people have been busy with the election but I am hoping that this doesn’t get lost in the shuffle because it is important,” she remarked.
Those interested in nominating an individual are urged to come by the Civic Centre and get an application form or get one online at fortfrances.ca (the form even can be filled out and submitted online).
Alternately, they can call Lawson at 274-5323 and she can fax or e-mail one to you.
Once applications are in, the “Citizen of the Year” selection committee will meet and review them on Nov. 2 and come up with a recommendation for council.
Then at the Nov. 13 meeting of council, the committee of the whole will receive an in-camera report including that recommendation for final approval.
Council’s recognition of the “Citizen of the Year 2018” likely will take place at the Nov. 26 council meeting–the final meeting of the current council.
Evelyn Metke was the 2017 “Citizen of the Year.”
