Garnet Cornell acted like dynamite on the front wall of the Hoover Dam.
Cornell’s goal sparked a flood of offence from Centra Pipelines, who annihilated Pharmasave 11-1 in Borderland Soccer League men’s division action Monday evening.
Jeff Hyatt had a hat trick for league-leading Centra (7-3), which has won two-straight games and now leads second-place Manitou Forest Products (5-3-1) by five points, although Manitou holds a game in hand.
Max Williams, Lucas Koomans, and Jesse Fuhrer each tallied twice while Nico Kooistra had the other marker.
Tyler Hamm and Britt Green shared keeper duties.
Brett Allan had the lone goal for last-place Pharmasave (3-10), which has been outscored 21-2 in its current three-game losing skid.
Steve Hands took the loss in goal.
Last night, Manitou took on third-place CJ Contracting (6-5-1), with the score unavailable at press time.
Tonight’s action will see Manitou and Pharmasave collide at 7 p.m.
In women’s action Monday, La Place Rendez-Vous/Taggs (4-2-1) was handed a 1-0 forfeit win–and the season series–after Al’s Racquet Stringing (2-4-1) was unable to field enough players.
The two squads will meet one more time in the regular season this Monday at 7 p.m.
