The Northwest Catholic District School Board is slated to approve the 2009/10 budget during its regular monthly meeting tomorrow.
A budget of $16,675,011—balanced through a transfer of $641,704 from one of the board’s reserves—is what administration will be presenting to trustees.
This budget represents a five percent increase in both revenues and expenditures compared to the 2008/09 budget.
An increase of salaries and benefits by four percent—established through this past year’s provincial bargaining—is cited by the board as the primary reason why there’s been an increase in expenditures.
Other details concerning the breakdown of the budget, including changes since administration presented a preliminary one to trustees last month, also will be presented at tomorrow’s meeting, which gets underway at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart School library in Sioux Lookout.
Also tomorrow, the board will be looking to approve its “Plan for the Provision of Special Education Programs and Services” for submission to the Ministry of Education.
As well, the board will be honouring Sacred Heart School student Rylie Wills with a recognition of excellence.
The sixth-grader is being recognized for various achievements, including being chosen the class representative for D.A.R.E., athletics, and being the highest-scoring participant from Sioux Lookout in the GAUSS math contest.
