Cash cow

Dear sir:
The bridge toll blues. For those who do not know, the original bridge was opened for highway traffic in 1912. The cost of building it–$107,754.
One could assume the original bridge has been paid for a number of times.
Please, spare me the tears regarding the painting and maintenance of the bridge. It is a company bridge and is used by the company in its business–the painting and maintenance would have to be done whether the bridge toll was collected or not.
As for the new Customs building, if the planners come with a building that only lasts for 10 or 12 years, such as the Customs building we have now, then it is just a waste of money.
If there was a contest to guess just how much toll is collected at the bridge in a year, my guess would be somewhere between $800,000-$900,000. Over the last 20 years, that would be like $16-$18 million being collected.
This is just a guess; I wonder if one could truly find out how much toll they do collect. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to recognize a cash cow when one sees one.
If there is a toll increase, I will still visit the “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave,” but sad to say, it will not be as often.
