TORONTO – Ontario is reporting 370 new cases of COVID-19 today and seven more deaths linked to the virus.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 67 new cases in Toronto, 57 in Waterloo, and 47 in Peel Region.
She says there are also 34 new cases in Ottawa and 27 in York Region.
Today’s data is based on nearly 30,500 completed tests.
The Ministry of Health says 397 people are in hospital because of the novel coronavirus – 362 in intensive care.
Ontario says 210,611 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered since Wednesday’s report, a new record high. A total of more than 11.9 million doses have been administered in the province.
Health Minister Christine Elliott and Solicitor General Sylvia Jones are scheduled to provide an update on Ontario’s vaccine effort later today.
Eligibility was accelerated for a second dose this week in seven hot spots where the Delta variant is spreading. People in those regions who got their first dose on May 9 or earlier could book a second shot starting Monday.
