MP touts child benefit

Press Release

Local MP Don Rusnak last Friday jointly announced the positive impact of the Canada Child Benefit for eligible families in the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding.
Rusnak affirmed that if passed by Parliament, the Canada Child Benefit is simpler, tax-free, better targeted, and more generous than the existing child benefits.
It will help parents with the high costs of raising their kids and put more money in the pockets of nine out of 10 Canadian families.
It also will lift 300,000 Canadian children out of poverty so they can have the chance to reach their full potential.
“We ran on a platform of helping the middle-class and those trying to reach the middle-class,” noted Rusnak.
“This is one example of our government making good on these promises.
“We know families are struggling and with this new Canadian Child Benefit, we are supporting the families who need it most,” he added.
“I am extremely proud to be a part of a government that is working towards real change.”
Rusnak delivered the announcement, in collaboration with Thunder Bay-Superior North MP Patty Hajdu, at the Nanabijou Child Care Centre in Thunder Bay.
